Teams, revolutionising remote working – Getting the most from remote working

In the previous blog, we explored the reason remote working is so important in the current climate. With the current pandemic as severe as it is, more and more companies are making a shift to remote working, some will stay this way permanently. We also touched on some points business owners are apprehensive about, leading them to not make the transition to remote working, potentially leaving them behind the rest of the world in the future growth and evolution of their business. We will go over some of these issues and hopefully ease worries about a transition to remote working. Once you have made the change to remote working there are several things you can do to be sure you get the most out of it.

Managing a Remote team however small or large requires new practices to ensure it runs as smoothly as possible. Read on for some best practices fine-tuned for a remote working model.

Identify a trusted and capable team leader

Some remote teams indeed find the work-life balance a difficult concept, and in turn struggle productively. Providing a good level of support for the team is essential, giving them a point of contact to voice their technical challenges and find better ways to manage them. Remote working calls for a leader that can guide the team through what can be an IT minefield if not adequately trained.

Identify tools essential for productivity – Introducing the Microsoft Teams app

Microsoft Teams and productivity come hand-in-hand. It may be the most important part of your remote working infrastructure. Teams offers unique qualities and features by offering a platform for your team to thrive on:

  • Secured authentication support
  • Ease of use
  • Ability to implement granular access control
  • Shared access to resources
  • Real-time alerts and communication capabilities
  • Project management, scheduling, and event management features
  • Communication tools, chat and video conferencing capabilities, screen sharing, and presentation
  • Task management
  • File storage and collaboration tools
  • Workflow automation

Microsoft Teams allows you to coherently organise project work. A lot of effort has gone into making Teams a comprehensive communication solution with multiple communication tools and productivity platforms, all configurable through the Teams interface. Teams offers resolutions to many concerns business owners have by providing a chat-based collaborative workspace. Allowing companies to stay connected with staff from anywhere, Teams ensure company ethos can continue to be reinforced along with the monitoring of productivity. Teams also enforce a team-wide and organisation-wide two-factor authentication process, files are stored in SharePoint and are backed by SharePoint encryption meaning data is safe and secure also.

Getting feedback from your employees can be invaluable. IT has evolved with the rapid increase in remote working, it has become a technological assistant, not only to the computers at work but to all verticals of the business from managers to end-users. Setting up communication channels within Teams for you and your employees to inform each other of issues and give feedback, is essential to better the IT services and infrastructure.

Microsoft Teams is an essential application for productivity, connectivity and collaboration within a business, this applies when working at the office or remotely. It is a one-stop-shop for the tools to keep every part of a business flowing freely and productively no matter the setting.
